Help for a kindly barber and his street cats – a Turkish tale

I’m sure there are many similar cases to this of the kindly barber. What Mr Hussein faces is a similar fate of many, many animal feeders and caregivers all over the world.

Manuela’s eyes begin to flood as Hussein expresses his worry for the cats he cares for. There are only seven days until Hussein will vanish from the shop and Manuela fears for his very survival and for that of the animals who depend on him.

But as fate would have it,  there is something better in store for the barber and his cats. You see, although animal rescue is thought of as an art exclusively devoted to the four-legged, it is often about saving people as well. As Manuela’s Facebook supporters read her post about the barber’s fate, there is a swell of support. One after another, readers begin making small contributions to help and Manuela can’t wait to share the news with Hussein.

Let this story be an inspiration for all of us that we can do little things to help.

And little things do matter.

On another note, I don’t know if you face this, but I do – to be told (off) that we only care for animals and that we don’t care for humans. People who say this do not see that in offering help to the animals as we do, we are also helping the humans, aren’t we?

So again, never mind what people say. As long as we are true to our conscience, we’re a-okay!

Let’s be inspired to do more for the animals (and their humans!).
