I noticed that Ginger’s condition was deteriorating, so I took him to another vet today, all prepared for not-so-good news.
True enough, in just two weeks, his condition has indeed deteriorated. It’s the progression of the FIV and there’s nothing much we can do about it. We decided not to opt for anything invasive which has no certainty of success and at most, would just be buying him a little more time.
Meanwhile, he is still able to eat small amounts at frequent intervals throughout the day. I do not have to force feed him in any way at all, which is good.
After discussing with the vet, we opted for comfort care for Ginger. So, it’s only Gabapentin and oral Mirtazapine for now.

Ginger eats with his catio family. He is particularly close to Minnie and the Monsters, and they all adore him.

Being able to eat is good, even though the amount is small.

Ginger gets to come indoors to spend time with us whenever he wishes to.
Life is such, I know. We just have to accept it; be prepared to face it with strength and serenity. It’s easier said than done, of course.
One day at a time.
