We have subsidized RM80 for the neutering of February, a male cat, rescued by Dawn Tan
On Thursday (23Feb12), I found February sitting at the restaurant downstairs, calling for food. He was a good looking cat with a collar, but no ID tag. The restaurant owner said February had been around for a few days, but no one had come around the shops looking for a lost cat. So it looked like this was another abandoned case. Februaryhad the symptom of a cat that had been starving for a long time – he gobbled 3 plates of biscuits at one seating.
The nxt day, February was still around the restaurant corridors, so we decided to keep him overnight in our office to send him for blood test and neutering the next day.
We will be bringing him back this Saturday and releasing him back at the corridors. We will continue to leave food and water outside our office for February and let our office cats sort themselves out with him…whether he is allowed to come in to share a warm bed, or sleep on the cold tiles, or perish to another condo (our office cat had earlier successfully fought one away from this condo).
Thank you for subsidizing Feb’s neutering. Will prepare the receipt and form once everything is done, thanks KY!
Meanwhile, here are some pics of February:
Pic #1: February with his 3rd bowl of food on the 1st night.Pic #2: February asking for affection
Pic #3: Once we brought him into the office for the night, we gaveFebruary a plate of milk to calm him down in the uncomfortable presence of new surroundings and 2 existing annoyed cats.
Pic #4: February was sprayed with Frontline for precaution. He also had a nail cutting, massive ear cleaning and ear mites medication session.
Pic #5: His treat for allowing us to ‘clean’ him – ikan bilis! But just like our cats, he had to sit for it first…and he did 🙂
Pic #6: We prepared a blanket, a bowl of food, a bowl of water and a potty for February to stay overnight in the room. I had also cut and removed 16.5 inches height of sticker from the glass door, so he could look out at our cats and our cats could look in at him.
Pic #7: After meowing the whole night, whole morning, unlocking the carrier 3 times and setting the car alarm off, February was exhausted by the time we arrived at the vet.
Pic #8: February’s upset with us for bringing him to the vet and doesn’t want to look at us.

February does behave like someone’s pet. Well-mannered.
Is really sad to know people dump their pets away. Why?
Recently, I was greeted by a male orange cat. Very manja. A father and son who was also having their evening walk, commented that, people come here to dump their cats and drive off. The security guards also confirmed this. If you are familiar with Taman Tun Kiara Walk (not the park), the one after an Indian Temple – that is the dumping place. Is basically a jungle inhabited by a large population of long-tail macaques. I don’t know how those cats can survive there.
February looks exactly like my cat,ah FAT when he was still errmmmm….slim….hahahhaha….even the marking on his face is exactly the same!!! Very handsome cat..
Hi Dr.Chan, here’s some updates on Febby:
He’s confirmed FIV-ve, so we brought him back to the office, w cage n water sprayer and begun the befriending progress.
Within a week, he was able to sleep in the same basket w Ah Mao, so we left him out during the day time after YoDa leaves for his ronda duty around the condo, n put him back into the cage or room when YoDa returns from work.
Unfortunately, one evening when when we left them unattended for half an hour, YoDa bit a hole in Ah Mao’s butt/tail leaving a gapping hole for me to nurse!
Eversince then, they r done w chasing each other, so it’s quite peaceful. But Ah Mao’s still upset w Febby and doesn’t allow him to come near. We hope they get along soon, so we can move on to Febby and Yoda instead.
Febby&Yoda would take much longer, prob 2 months before we could let them fight it out 🙁
Febby is very much behaving like a stray cat, sleeping w his eyes open, fights like a pitbull (pins u down n doesn’t let go) instead of a harmless fight to establish hierarchy. He eats a TREMENDOUS amount of food, poos as big n as much as a dog (but twice a day!) n is still very skinny. We’ve cut down his meals to a lesser quantity but 3 frequencies (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
