Spaying sponsorship and medical subsidy for 2 female dogs (Lydia Lim for Kim Fho’s Shelter)

We have fully sponsored RM240 for the two spayings and subsidised a further RM50 (as 50% of the RM100 for two dogs) for the extra medical charge of doing the procedure for the dogs while they were on heat.
Total subsidy = RM290.

Dear Kah Yein,

I would like to apply for the neutering subsidy on behalf of Kim Fho as
she is not computer or internet literate. Kim herself has 30plus
rescue dogs and she has learnt the importance of spay and neuter to
reduce needless suffering. Kim goes around her neighbourhood, which is
a rural area, trying to educate the residents about neutering. Many,
if not most of the dogs in her area, whether family pets or community
dogs are not neutered.Kim offers to help by sending the dogs to the
vet.

I am applying for the neutering of 2 street dogs.
Wong Jie, who is about 4 years old but has the look of an older dog in
her eyes as she has been through countless litters. She takes shelter
in a neighbourhood coffee shop and the coffee shop owners are kind
enough to allow her that. When I visited Wong Jie at the clinic just
before her spaying, she looked tired and seemed to be saying “I’m glad
I won’t have any more litters. I’m tired out from having so many and
losing so many pups.” Wong Jie is a very sweet and docile dog that
just hangs out at the coffee shop.Wong jie has been returned to the
coffe shop where she is safe and is fed by kind patrons.

Terry is a young street dog less than a year old. She looks really
strong and has a slightly bigger built than the average street dog.
She also lives on the street in Kim’s area and is fed by kind stay
feeders. This area is relatively safe for the dogs as it is quite
rural and the community does not seem to mind the street dogs so it’s
probably important to control the numbers so that the community will
still tolerate them and live side by side with them.
Terry has been returned and released to her area after her spaying.

The vet charged an extra RM50 each for both Terry and Wong Jie as they
were both on heat and the procedure then costs extra. I’m not sure if
Animal Care will help to subsidise for this extra cost. Kim said she
knew they were both probably on heat when she caught the 2 street dogs
for spaying. But she felt that it was better to rush them for spaying
rather than have them get pregnant as she had noticed the male dogs
going after these two girls. So it was unavoidable that they had to be
brought in while on heat.

Thank you for your unrelentless significant efforts in helping our
fellow deserving animals.

Best regards,
Lydia
