Noraini’s cat appears to have not responded well to the antibiotics and daily cleaning.
From Noraini:
Yesterday, i take one day leave from office…I’m a bit curious coz the vet clinic medication already finish but the infection still not recovery..I took the cat back to Kembiri. Unfortunately, they closed on monday….On my way home to pandan indah, ampang, i saw the government vet clinic. So, i stop-by there. After check-up, they immediately advise me to do another surgery, to repair the stitch wound and to clean any pus (‘nanah’) inside the wound. They estimated around rm70 (a bit cheaper than the vet clinic that quotation me rm250++)..the surgery date booking on wednesday, 25/07/12….what your recommend?should i proceed the surgery there, or refer to Kembiri for their further advise….as per today, the cat still eat well and active (yesterday, they checked a bit fever/39.1)..about the infection, i dont know to describe how bad it is but i still go on to clean the wound daily and gave the prescribe antibiotic. As for another 3 female cats neutered, they showed a positive recovery..the stitch & wound already dry and the swollen has reduced… 🙂
This is SPCA’s response:
It is usually not recommended to stitch up a wound of 24hours or more. From experience, the sutures will not hold and drainage will be obstructed. The usual procedure will be to debride if there are any dead tissue, cleaning and dressing. We have encountered similar situations and healing is uneventful though it may take another week or more for this case. If the cat is licking excessively, we may need to put on an e-collar or protective cover. The vet at Kembiri recommends that Noraini brings it back to KK tomorrow (Wed).
Meanwhile, one of our readers have offered help at her regular vet. Her vet also does not recommend surgery. So, Noraini has two options now – either to bring the cat back to KK for follow-up tomorrow or bring the cat this evening to our reader’s vet.
The best is not to delay. We will provide our medical subsidy while the rest will be sponsored by this reader.

My cat has an eye infection of which i think it may be a cornea scarrification as a ‘white transparent thing’ covered her whole left eye. What will the treatment she will receive if i bring her to the vet? Will it cost me much?
Dear Airiena, The vet would have to diagnose your cat and recommend treatment.
