Medical subsidy for 1 cat for a maggot-infested wound (Syahirah bt Abdul Rahman’s)

The bill is RM190 and we have subsidised RM95. This subsidy comes from the AnimalCare Donors (RM35) and Berjaya Cares (RM60).

Hi Dr Chan,

My name is Syahirah and I was referred to you by a fellow rescuer, Carol Loh. My case goes like this. There are many stray cats that come to my house in Alam Megah. I feed them whenever I can and when my finances allow me to. However, this morning, one came with what seemed like a broken hand. I felt really terrible for it and immediately called the closest vet in Putra Heights. I thought that the stray cat had been in a car accident, but turned out she had flesh-eating maggots gnawing at its arm.
I couldn’t say no to surgery, thus the doctor had helped removed the maggots and most of its flesh on its paw. When he was done, you could see the bones on the stray cat. I’m going to be giving it some care for a couple of weeks. The problem is that I’m merely a student and cannot really afford its medical bills, thus Carol referred me to your subsidisation policy (and your amazing website!).
Attached with this email are pictures of the stray cat and its medical bills. I’m not hoping for much, because I didn’t even know such policies exist! But any help would be much appreciated… It feels so good to rescue animals, but the finances are something I cannot control which upsets me. If you could somehow help me with this matter, I offer my volunteering services in the future (should you and organisation need it).
Thank you so much for reading this email in advance!
And thank you for all your great work 🙂
With regards,
Syahirah
