Medical subsidy for Nicky, rescued dog (Lai Mei Kueen & Eng Geok Bee’s)

We have subsidised RM375 for Nicky’s treatment, surgery and castration based on what we could read from the receipt. The bill is high due to the boarding of 38 days. We could only subsidise 5 days of hospitalisation due to his eye surgery.

This subsidy comes from the AnimalCare Donors (RM175) and Berjaya Cares (RM200).

Dear Dr Chan,
Nicky  was spotted  loitering near a shopping complex car park every night. I gave him some food and
while he was eating it, i heard a loud bang and upon checking found he was so frightened even with a cat
staring at him, He banged into a water dispenser next to him.  I told Mdm Eng to feed him as it is nearer
to her house. He is afraid of everything. When we leave the food there , he will wait till we move away only
then he will come to eat. We realize that if there is another dog around growling at him he will not dare to
eat the food. We decided to rescue him early in the morning before he leaves the place. People around
the area told us this dog comes in the evening and leaves in the morning. No one knows where the dog is
in the day.
He is now at the vet with a swollen hind leg due to a fracture. His shoulder and neck is also swollen. His bloodtest result shows that he is anemic and having some infections. His skin condition is also very bad.
Can i claim for his medical subsidy?
Thank you.

Hi Dr Chan,
Sorry for the late update. I would like to update on Nicky’s condition. His skin condition was getting worse until recently we see some improvements. The vet keep changing the medicine but she can’t give stronger ones cos he is very weak. He sleeps most of the time and needs to be monitor for his condition.
He has right entropion of lateral canthus in the eye which causes irritation and discharge. If we do not  do
a surgery then he will have to have his eyedrops and eye cleaning everyday. We decided to go ahead with the surgery to the eye and also neutered him.
Can i proceed with the latest treatments and neutering?
Thank you.

Note:  This is AnimalCare’s very last medical treatment subsidy payment. From now onwards, we will only be providing neutering and vaccination subsidies. For rescuers who need financial help for medical treatment for their rescues, kindly go the the respective organisations which provide such help.  Thank you very much for your kind understanding.
