In Loving Memory of Kaiser

On 28th June (Sunday), a little kitten was trapped in the engine of a van. The driver was unaware and had started the engine, and it took an hour for helpers to extricate the little kitten out of the engine. He sustained massive injuries.

The helpers then called me, and a friend helped rush the little kitten down to the 24 hour hospital for treatment. The prognosis was bad on the first day, but we told doctors to do everything possible to save his life. He was put on morphine and drips. His condition had to be stabilised first.

The next day, we were told he might have already lost a leg and one side appeared to be paralysed. I searched for fosterers who might be able to look after him, but could not find any.

We visited the little kitten on Tuesday, and I named him Kaiser. He was not in pain as morphine had been administered throughout. His two feet were bandaged and there was no movement when we touched his feet.

However, Kaiser responded by mewing when I touched him and sent loving thoughts to him. We told him to be strong and to hang on. He was calm as he breathed softly.

His blood was crossmatched and Kaiser was given blood transfusion, had an Xray taken and was to be operated on on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, Kaiser passed away peacefully, before the scheduled operation. We were very sad, but we find peace and serenity in knowing that Kaiser is now in a better existence, especially when so many cared for him during his last days. He passed away in dignity, having much love showered upon him.

Guardian angels come to us in many shapes and sizes. Some with wings, perhaps, and many in furs. These angels come into our lives to give us a chance to practice love and compassion, and become a better human being by caring for them.

May Kaiser be in a peaceful state now.
