Gifts of the heart and of the eye

Today, I got two kittens adopted from Philos (both already spayed), one of our panel vets. The adopter is Dr Veeranoot aka Sis Nui.

I was pleasantly surprised when I reached Sis Nui’s house with the kittens. She had bought two cages and labelled them “Kwanta” and “Kwanjai”, tied with pretty little red ribbons. Sis Nui explained that “Kwanta” means “a gift from the eye” and “Kwanjai” means “a gift from the heart” (I hope I got that right! – that’s in Thai).

Sis Nui told me to let the kittens out and let them choose the cage (hence, their own names). Kwanta chose hers first! So the other had to take the name “Kwanjai”.

Sis Nui also bought cat litter, and had two little cute bowls of food and water all ready.

I told her the cages were a bit small, so she is going to buy a bigger cage this evening. These two kittens are sisters and have grown up together at the clinic.

Finally, I suggested that the kittens be let free in her house for while. Goodness me, they were SO happy. Kwanta (I think?) happily ran all over the house while Kwanjai was still a bit reserved.

In no time, we had both kittens happily exploring their new home.

This is Sis Nui’s first time having pet cats, and she is a little worried whether she could cope or give her best. I have no doubt she will learn the ropes, just as I did, with my first rescued litter.

When the heart is willing, things will fall into place, somehow.

P.S. Silly me brought my camera, but forgot to insert the memory card. So, no photos of our gifts of the heart and of the eye for today.

Updates: It is 9.10pm now, and I just text Sis Nui. She has bought the bigger cage, but the two are still happily running around the house!
