Ever since this website came up and our work became public, I’ve received quite a number of phonecalls and emails from interested people. Some people have a misconception about who we are, and I certainly don’t blame them, because I have not really explained what AnimalCare is all about. Hence, I hope the three earlier postings below, though long overdue, will clarify some of the misconceptions others may have on what we can do, and what we cannot.
Here’s correcting some misconceptions:
1. We are NOT a shelter or a sanctuary (I wish we were a sanctuary, but I honestly do not have the resources to run one!). We do not have a place to house abandoned animals. We only rely on volunteer fosterers (which are few and far in between).
2. We do not know how to catch animals. You’ll have to catch the animals (we recommend that you make friends first) and bring them over to our panel vets. You may wish to ask the help of the established shelters to help in the catching. They may have the expertise and the humanpower to do this.
3. We do not make housecalls unless it is nearby for me and our group of volunteers. We have very few volunteers so our geographical scope is rather limited. We would appreciate if you could bring the animal to our panel vets and we will meet you there.
Then, what are we?
We are a group of volunteers committed to helping animals in whatever ways we can. Our focus at this point in time is to encourage more people to care for animals and to help in the spaying and neutering of stray animals through our panel vets who offer discounted rates (only for strays).
We help all animals, but our welfare rates only apply to stray animals.
