I received a phonecall from a lady named Uma. Uma is concerned about a pregnant dog whom she is feeding. She is worried the authorities would come and catch the dog and put her down. Uma is appealing for a fosterer to take care of this pregnant dog, at least until she gives birth. Uma is also asking for help for her aged aunt who feeds stray cats in her alley. It seems some new neighbours have recently moved in and are now abusing these stray cats by pouring hot water on them. This is a cruelty case and I shall refer it to SPCA.
Meanwhile, if you’d like to foster the pregnant dog, please contact me. I have asked Uma to send me a photo but she has not done so yet. She is very worried because the authorities come around very often to catch the strays. Here’s the very, very sad thing, folks – stray animals are designated as “pests” by law, and the authorities decides that the only way to solve the problem is to exterminate them. Isn’t that sad? We hope the people in power would lobby for a change in mindset. After all, aren’t we supposed to be a caring society?
