More SOS for this week

Here are two stories I have not written about yet:

1. I received this email from Azimah, a very kind lady, who is concerned about the wellbeing of 2 little dogs:

I live in Rawang and travel daily to KL where I work. I have written to SPCA but have not received any reply yet, maybe they are too busy with the Ketam dogs. I’m very worried about 2 young doggies who have been left by the road side along the Rawang-Ipoh Road (close by to the Shell Station just outside Perangsang Templer Golf Club). It’s a very busy road and sad to say I’ve seen a few dead dogs along the road due to human recklessness and dangerous driving. If nothing is done to help them soon, a similar fate might befall them both. Someone is feeding them daily (I think) but the fact that they are right there playing and resting along a busy main road worries me terribly.I don’t earn much, but I’m willing to help in any possible way I can. Just to let you know, I’m an animal lover and have been feeding stray dogs and cats for as long as I can remember.

I have directed this appeal to SPCA because AnimalCare does not have any expertise in catching dogs. We do not have the equipment or the humanpower. I hope SPCA’s Shahrul will respond asap. Meanwhile, if anyone reading this can help in catching the dogs, please volunteer your help.

2. This is from Janz, one of our followers, she is in Penang:

This morning as i was on my way to work, i saw a dog on the road… I believed he (terrier) is owned by someone as he was wearing a bell wiz him and juz had his hair cut… but he was running on the road to nowhere… and he seems dun knw how to cross the road… so i stop the car and chase after him awhile… finally wen i got him, i look at him but he was so shy… so i went around asking if he belong to anyone or anyone knw his owner… But everyone there said they havent seen tis dog and never see him around tht area…. Wen i was thinking to bring him in my car and back to my off, there is an indian couple approached me and ask is tht my dog if not they r thinking to adopt him… they convince me tht wil take gud care of him and i took their contact and also jot down their car num… As tis is my 1st time of rescueing a dog, im not sure wat i done is right or wrong… but i dun feel gud now… coz i think wat if his owner is looking for him now?… the dog muz be missing the owner very much too…. Pls pls tell me wat shld i do? Shld i call the couple and get the dog back then go around the neighbourhood to chk again?

I’ve told Janz to take a photo of the dog, and print flyers to be distributed in that area. Meanwhile, the dog is alright with Indian family though a bit reserved and he was not eating yesterday. That’s the typical behaviour of a lost dog. We hope the owner will get hold of the flyer and call Janz and there is a happy reunion between dog and owner. If not, we hope this kind Indian family who has now adopted the dog will help the dog settle in in time. Janz did the right thing. If the dog had been left on the road, goodness knows what would have happened to him. Whatever it is, he is safe now, and he has food, water, shelter and people who are caring for him. Great work, Janz. I will post a photo of the dog in the next posting.
