Today, we took three more of Devi’s cats to be spayed and neutered. The first photo shows Mano (a male) who was rescued from the monorail by Devi. He was injured and nursed back to health by Devi. The second photo shows Baby and Blackie, both female.
The third photo is so cute – it shows DoDo, RayRay and MiMi, the clinic cats saying hello to the new patients when we arrived at the clinic. These three are simply the cutest, friendliest, and most caring cats I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen them welcoming patients to the clinic many times (very good PR “officers”). When Angel was boarded for the eye innoculation, RayRay kept her company.
I was told RayRay is the vet’s favourite cat, and I understand why!
Today as we were collecting the cats, we also sent Sholay and Robbin back to Devi from another clinic. We had taken these two for neutering yesterday. Both have recovered from the surgery. As we were preparing to take Baby, Blackie and Mano, I had a chat with Devi.
Devi is a single mother, looking after her only son (who is 14, in Form 2) and a sickly mother. She works as a secretary near her shoplot apartment and the reason she works there is that she wants to be near home so that she can go home during lunchtime to clean up the cats’ mess and feed them. Presently, she is keeping and feeding 22 cats whom she had rescued from the street. All live with her, and this is because she is worried they would be abused or run down by vehicles should they be returned to the street.
Devi says she would certainly welcome help in any way, whether it is for spaying/neutering, vaccination or cat food. Her cats are fed Hill’s Science Plan and a friend helps to deliver the 10kg packs to her house, but she pays for them from her salary. Devi has no car.
