A mixed English Cocker Spaniel was found abandoned at the market place.
He has been rescued and he is now boarding at the vet’s pending and we have been asked to help out with the poor dog’s plight.
I talked to the vet who is attending to him, and according to the vet, he is suffering from neglect as well as major pathological problems. At this point in time, the vet cannot tell anything. The dog would need to have blood tests and x-rays done before we can even begin to guess what might be wrong with him.
The vet says the dog can tolerate small amounts of food, but when given bigger amounts, he vomits. I felt his body, and it is totally emaciated – he is literally skin and bones. So, he needs to eat, but he cannot eat. That IS a big problem. Poor thing…
The vet estimates that treatment would easily shoot up to RM1500 or more, and the chances of healing is very slim, judging from his present condition.
We’ll see what the rescuer decides tomorrow, and we will help in any way possible.
Hopefully, the dog can live out his natural life as painlessly as possible.
P.S. While at the vet’s I met my friend, James. James had earlier called me regarding his 11 year-old dog who could not walk anymore. He asked me to recommend a vet who might be able to treat his dog. James had brought his dog to a university and was told it should be put down. Today, James was beaming with joy when he saw me. This vet (whose clinic we were at) cured his dog in just three days, with medication!! Now, the dog can walk in a straight line and is happy. Hmm…sometimes, it’s good to get a second opinion, isn’t it? It could be a matter of life and death, especially when it comes to sick animals. I am so glad James did not opt for the “easy way out”. Kudos to you, James!
