Our (new) OKR AnimalCare Team spins into action!!

From Left to Right: Terry, Boon Yong, Cass, Teresa, Jenn
Drummrolll………….Meet our new OKR AnimalCare team, led by Teresa Chian and Terry Saw.
Kudos to the four volunteers, Jenn, 11 years old, Cass, 12 years old, Boon Yong, a fresh graduate, and Boon Yong’s mother, a full-time homemaker.  (Someone is not in the photo – it’s Boon Yong’s mother).
Our OKR team did a fantastic job yesterday and managed to catch SIX stray animals for spaying and neutering.
Here’s Teresa’s account:

Yes, I was totally B.u.r.n.t.o.u.t on wed and thurs but it was worth it. The cats are actually boarding in my neighbours house now, 4 lots away from my house. Only 1 dog is boarding at Dr Bun’s. So that saves some money. We took pics of the animals and the OKR team! hahaha it was so much fun.

Total animals sterilised:

2 female cats

2 male cats

1 female dog

We captured 6 animals but 1 female cat was over-ruled because she was still nursing her (one) kitten. Yes, Terry managed to fish the kitten (even younger than Tinsel) from their rooftop hideout. We are keeping both mother cat and kitten caged safely till kitten is strong enough to be on its own and we’ll spay mother cat. There are other kittens in the rooftop but apparently, they belong to other mother cats.

Here are their photos:

Ah Bui
Fei Fei
Kit Kat
MiMi
Minnie
Nana & kitten (not spayed yet)

After the rescue, I bought them (vegetarian) lunch to show my appreciation because this is their 1st time being introduced to animal capture and sterilisation. Dr Jenny even let them witness the operation. But there are still lotsa work to do and I would like them to continue helping me. If you can spare some time to come, I’d intro you as the person behind this, and that we are not alone. Just a thought. please let me know if this is possible.

GREAT work, Teresa, Terry, Jenn, Cass, Boon Yong and Boon Yong’s mum!  Thank you so much for the efforts.

I’d love to meet all of you.  Will try to find time in between the public talks I have scheduled for this weekend and the rescue work that comes up unexpectedly.

We hope more people would form their own small teams and do CNRM on their own.  It isn’t so hard.  Do what you can, within your means.  Every bit helps.  Every stray animal spayed or neutered is already an act in preventing unwanted births.  THOUSANDS of births.

And as you can read from the account above, it can be real fun too!

Great work, guys!

P.S.  This is our shared achievement – it is also thanks to your support and donations that we are able to spay and neuter all these animals.
