Mummy-Dog comes home…to a football team!

Continued…

After buying the cage and the wet food, we went on to Mayo Clinic to collect Mummy-Dog.

Yi Lin brought Mummy-Dog outside the clinic to calm her down because there were several dogs in the clinic.  I could see, as I waited for the medication, Yi Lin talking very lovingly to Mummy-Dog.

And, after I got the medication, settled the bill, and came out, Yi Lin had already calmed Mummy-Dog and she looked happy.  Yi Lin said she is calling her “Hazel” and she seemed to like the name.

So we loaded Hazel into the car and off we went to Yi Lin’s house.

Hazel was very happy to see her puppies again.

Yi Lin’s daughter, Samantha, had decided, with brother Timothy, that the five puppies would be named after footballers, ie. Lamps, JT, Stevie G, El Nino and Cesc.  (Don’t think I know anything about football, folks, I had Sam write all these on a piece of paper for me!).

In that case, I said, Mummy-Dog should be named after the coach or the manager of this football team.

Manchester United?  Liverpool?  Arsenal?

Oh dear, these don’t sound feminine at all.  And there’s no team called Hazel, is there?

Finally, Samantha decided on CHELSEA.

Yes, that sounds feminine enough.  So, Chelsea it is!

Here’s Andrew and Timothy assembling the new cage.

There’s Yi Lin reassuring Chelsea that her puppies are ok.

This is the can of Hill’s Science puppy food for both mummy and puppies.  Chelsea loved it SO much, she ate up everything that we gave her.  Poor thing, she must be so, so hungry.  The puppies loved the wet food too, so Yi Lin said she’d be buying one dozen cans for them!

Andrew and Timothy applying the finishing touches to the cage…

We put Chelsea into the cage first, then her puppies, and they wasted no time to have some of mummy’s tasty and nutritious milk!  Again, Chelsea was nursing standing up.

As we put the puppies into the cage one by one, we checked their gender.  To our untrained eye, it seemed like four are males and only one is female.

The puppies’ feet kept getting stuck in between the bars, so Andrew cut a large piece of netting and placed it inside the cage.

It was already almost 5pm after we had settled the dogs in, so I said “bye bye” to Chelsea and thanked the Leong family for having consented to taking in Chelsea and her “football team”!

Then, I made my way home.  The first thing I did was to clean up my daughter’s car.  Then, I scrubbed my tshirt.  Surprisingly, after doing so much hands-on work, my white tshirt was still “quite white”!
Minutes ago, I just received a phonecall from Yi Lin asking about Chelsea’s medication.  Yi Lin also told me that Chelsea had eaten up half a can of the wet food!  That’s great!  I hope she fattens up and gets well really soon.  Yi Lin also said finally, Chelsea lay down to feed her puppies.  Phew…that’s a relief!  She should.  And all the puppies and Chelsea are now sleeping very peacefully.
Dr Koh had said to monitor Chelsea’s progress and if she does not show any signs of improvement after 3 days, we ought to bring her back for a further check-up.
We plan to put the whole family up for adoption in a few weeks’ time.  Chelsea is a very obedient and loving dog, and would make a wonderful pet.  Her puppies are all as cute as pie!  I’ll be visiting them and we’ll put their photos up here soon.
Meanwhile, you can all help by letting friends know about Chelsea and her puppies.  We hope to find them homes, especially when Chelsea is so timid and cannot fight for her food at the farm.  She would be back to skin and bones again.
We hope we don’t have to bring Chelsea and her puppies back to the farm, so please help them find homes.
Thanks!
I need a good rest now….(it has taken me almost three hours to write up today’s postings!).
