To the vet’s, and to their new foster home

Continued…

So, Ainey and I proceeded to Mayo Clinic, and Dr Koh said Mummy-Dog was jaundiced.  A blood smear was done because Dr Koh suspected a blood parasite, but it did not show up in the blood examination.  Because the medication of this blood parasite is very toxic, Dr Koh thought it best to just treat Mummy-Dog for tick fever instead.  So, she was given a jab, and we said it’s best to detick her as well.

Dr Koh then examined the five puppies and said the “infection” we had spotted was a milk rash.  Nothing very serious, he said.  Just antibiotics would do the trick.

So we had to leave the mother-dog in the clinic for her tick bath.

The five puppies were Frontlined, and off we went now, to the fosterer’s home.  We also bought two packets of Eukanuba puppy kibbles for Mum and pups.

Andrew and Yi Lin were on hand to receive us.

Here’s Andrew Leong with the five puppies.

And this is Yi Lin and son, Timothy.  Daughter Samantha was also there, but I didn’t get to take her photo, somehow.
The Leong family has fostered many dogs before, and they would take in the most unwanted dogs and shower them with lots and lots of love.  I remember even before knowing them, I had often admired their domestic helper walking a VERY old dog.  That was many years ago.  They live just round the corner from my house.
After settling the puppies in, we fed them some kibbles, but they were not interested at all.

Here’s the Leong family’s dogs – Chief and Happy.  Chief was especially noisy and kept barking non-stop.
“Who are these people trespassing into MY territory!!”, he must be saying.

So, we decided to let Chief see the puppies up close.  He was very interested in these “new specimens”.
Yi Lin said they needed a bigger cage for the mum and the puppies, so I said we will sponsor the cage.
Yi Lin and I then went off to buy the cage, and also some wet food since the puppies were not interested in the dry food at all.
We had to drop Ainey off because she had an appointment.
Next posting, please…
