This is a report from Teresa Chian, our OKR representative. We just sponsored the surgeries of two dogs who are being looked after by a Mr Siva. In fact, I saw one surgery in progress today. Nasty maggots….
Siva is a fellow animal lover who lives in Tmn Kanagapuram, Old Klang Rd. He makes a pact with the nearby shoplots, factories and used car dealers (which is aplenty in OKR) to offer shelter (from rain & shine & dog catchers) for the stray dogs in their compound. Siva makes his round at night to feed all the 100+ dogs. He has been operating like this for approximately 6 years now. The dogs under his care kept multiplying at a frightening rate because Siva thinks it is a waste of money to sterilise them as they do not have a permanent home and proper medical attention.
Recently, one of the shoplot owner alerted Siva about two dogs that have sustained injuiries (we believe from fights) and have developed into large maggot wounds. Siva requested help from AnimalCare and I brought them into our panel Vet in OKR for immediate surgery & 7 days boarding. AnimalCare sponsored the medical needs of these two lucky dogs.
I am still negotiating with Siva to bring in the dogs under his care for sterilisation, under the sponsorship of AnimalCare. He is considering it.
