Puppykins is the little factory puppy whose leg underwent amputation this afternoon.
I stopped by at the clinic to find out how he was doing at 5pm, but the surgery was still in progress.
I just spoke to the vet and in a nutshell, the surgery went “well” and Puppykins is in recovery now.
However….
The infection had spread far more than anticipated and the vet had no choice but to amputate on an infected area. In normal practice, the vet would prefer to amputate a bit more than the infected area to ensure that the wound would have a better chance of recovery, but in Puppykins’ case, the infection had spread too far already.
As expected, the bone was already dead and infected, and the infection had spread.
We can now only hope that Puppykins will be strong enough, with the help of antibiotics and rest, to recover well from this surgery and be up and about in no time.
