This is Seenu, Devi’s cat who had been suffering from gum disease for many years. We brought Seenu to our panel vet today, for an evaluation and found that his disease is probably due to a compromised immune system.
Devi herself had also brought Seenu for treatment at the vet (since 2008) and this includes dental extraction and dental scaling, going on antibiotics, etc.
Today, our vet examined Seenu and told us nothing much could be done for him, from the western medicine practice. His gum disease can never be cured, but the pain can be reduced by using medications (steriods, which would further suppress his immune system). We could also opt for safer (but less effective) method like a change of diet.
Seenu has many rotten teeth, and these have to be extracted as well. But he would have to go under sedation for this purpose.
We decided at this point that it would be up to Devi to decide what she wants for Seenu, so we bought him a packet of Oral Care and told Devi all the options.
Finally….(during Tiger’s acupuncture session with Dr Susanna), it struck me that I could consult Dr Susanna to check if acupuncture might help Seenu’s case.
Voila…Dr Susanna says we could always give it a try!
Devi agreed as well, so that’s all set now.
