We sponsored the spaying of an 8 year-old mother-dog, HeiHei and her 6 month-old daughter, MayMay some two weeks back.
Although already 8 years old, HeiHei was still constantly getting pregnant and giving birth. Poor thing.
After the spaying, the rescuer was very worried at first because HeiHei did not eat after getting back from the clinic. I kept a close watch on HeiHei’s progress, and sought advice from the vet. It turned out that being 8 years old, HeiHei just took longer to recover. The vet who did the spaying also had Hei’s kidney functions checked before proceeding with the operation.
I kept in constant contact with the rescuer, monitoring Hei’s progress and we both breathed a sigh of relief when Hei finally ate, after one full day!
Today, Hei and May are doing fine.
