Yesterday, we brought back 7 dogs from Bentong, suspected to be unwell. Four were boarded at PAWS, thanks to Edward’s kind offer.
We went to visit today, to feed them some cooked chicken, and to give them their medicine.
This is the little one I was most worried about. Yesterday, when they arrived in the SPCA van, Edward text me to say this one was really in a very bad shape. He cautioned me that she might not have made it when I returned from Bentong. And when I did, in the late evening, she looked pretty bad. I felt so sorry for her, having to travel after being spayed just a day before, but Dr Lim (of SPCA) told me she looked sick and needed treatment, and that is why she was chosen to come back.
So, this morning, I went with fear in my heart – what if she had not made it through the night? The first thing I did as I entered the shelter was to make a beeline to her cage. To my utter relief, she was standing up and wagging her tail!
PHEW!! I was so, so happy. We quickly fed her some chicken. She ate most heartily. Eating is always a good sign. Eat up, little one. I’m calling you Perky. I later gave Perky her medicine. And more chicken to eat.
This is the unspayed female. She only ate one helping of chicken. I had trouble giving her medicine as she refused to take it. Edward to stuff it into a piece of chicken neck and they would eat it all up. Good idea – we’ll do that tomorrow.
This is the only boy amongst the roses. He must have ate four or more helpings of chicken. He looked well to us.
I didn’t have enough hands to take the photo of the fourth one – a girl. She looked well too.
We want to thank Edward for offering us these four places to our foursome. As soon as they are healthy, Edward will help us get them vaccinated and spayed-neutered (the boy and the white female). The other two have already been spayed.
We will put them up for adoption after that. Hopefully, they do not have to return to LLLP.
