Yesterday, we brought two more males (both black) back for treatment (suspected of being sick), and Lisa managed to get us two boarding spaces at her vet at Old Klang Road.
Unfortunately, one was diagnosed with distemper and corona virus. The other is clear. (yesterday, we thought that both were diagnosed with distemper – not so). The other who is clear has “some symptoms”, though.
We visited today and brought them cooked chicken to eat.
This is the bigger of the two – he was tested negative for distemper and corona. He ate very heartily. But he is thin – look at his ribs. I’ll call him Roger. Roger also has some wounds and is now being treated.
This is the smaller and healthier-looking one – he has distemper and corona. But his appetite is still very good. I’m calling him Sean (yes, after the legendary Sean Connery).
We spoke at length with the vet and he explained the situation to us. They are willing to treat Sean for three days after which a decision has to be made, based on Sean’s response to the treatment.
Tomorrow will be the third day.
I’ve decided at this point that I will look for a fosterer for Sean when he is discharged tomorrow. Can anyone help, please? Sean is active and perky – he needs a home with no other dog, and a fosterer who can administer his medicines for him.
I had a talk with our panel vet later and he said he had successfully treated many cases of distemper in local breeds. They seem to have a remarkable ability to heal. “The chances are good”, he said – that, was pure music to my ears. They were put on an antiviral medication Vetri DMG and antibiotics.
Please help us look for a fosterer to Sean. We really want to give him a chance to fight it our.
As for Roger, he will be put up for adoption once his wounds have healed.
By the way, remember the black shaggy dog Lisa brought back from Bentong? We saw Shaggy at the clinic too. And he is no longer shaggy now, but nicely trimmed.
Peek-a-boo!!
