Here’s an update from Lisa, who is helping us look after Shaggy and Roger (both brought back from Bentong for treatment):
Went to see them both this morning. I was late but I called to let the clinic know so they fed Roger and Shaggy with the kibble. I came later with the supplementary food – lamb boiled with vegetables, garlic, pumpkin, sweet potatoes and some rice. Polished off everything – all the vegetables finished! I took a large bag of food. I was going to feed half and ask the clinic to feed the other half tomorrow but they both enjoyed their food so much that I gave them everything today. I’ll just bring more tomorrow! They’re both so underweight, all this extra food won’t harm them.
Roger was wagging his tail gently when I walked up to see him. He is a very gentle dog – nothing rumbustious about him. Maybe he’s not sad but just not the overly excited kind? He is sweet and his face lights up when he sees me with the food.
All the dogs that we brought back are skin and bones, actually. That’s not surprising since they are only fed discarded bread at the pound (if available). We really need to fatten them up. ALL of them.
