Latest updates on Kuchai Lama dogs

Our volunteer and a friend went to feed the dogs in the abandoned house in Happy Garden, Jln Kuchai Lama, this evening, and were quite horrified with what they saw and found out.

They counted no less than 11 dogs, and all were hungry.

With the help of the neighbours, they managed to feed some of the dogs.  However, two dogs were chained and they had to use sticks to get food to these two dogs.

Here’s what our volunteer said:

We also managed to push in the food beneath the gate and was immediately eaten and finished up by the dogs. Obviously, the more dominant ones get to eat. There’s a one which is so afraid of the dominant one that he/she can’t even get to eat the food. Then we threw the kibbles inside to see if he/she could eat it. Then he/she only managed to get 1 kibble and the rest of the dogs quickly ate the rest.

The neighbours have also been helping to feed the dogs but they said there could even be more inside.  There used to be more than 20 dogs previously.

According to the neighbours, the owners have fled, but they return once in a few days to throw in some bread for the dogs.  The gate is latched but not locked.

I have been asking for help, and for now, a good samaritan is doing his best to help inform the proper authorities to help the dogs.  But until the proper authorities do, we have to feed the dogs.

We will be bringing dogfood for the dogs, and probably enlisting the neighbours’ help to feed the dogs daily until a solution is found.

If you are able to help feed the dogs, please contact me.
