Since 12noon today, I have been on sms with a girl from Puchong who had text me to seek advice on what to do with a “situation”.
A mother-cat had given birth to three kittens inside her shoe last night.
This morning, her father wanted to get rid of the kittens, so the father took them out into the sun (I reserve my comment on this act at this point in time).
She pleaded with her father to let the kittens in, so after some efforts, the father relented.
Before this happened, it seems the mother-cat had managed to come back and carried one kitten away.
Then, there were still two more kittens and the girl’s family had brought them INTO the house, thinking that the kittens would be safer.
When this was finally conveyed to me, I said to leave them in the porch so that the mother-cat would have better access to them.
By mid-afternoon, the mother-cat had taken one more kitten.
As I was having dinner, the girl text me to say the last kitten had not been taken away yet.
That’s when I started calling everyone I knew if anyone had kitten milk or could buy some kitten milk. Being Sunday, the petfood shops were all closed.
No one had kitten milk.
It is 8.48pm now. The girl finally text me to say the mother-cat has FINALLY come back for the last kitten.
PHEW!!! At least I can sleep tonight….
I would like to appeal to animal-lovers to urge non-animal-lovers to please leave mother-animals and their babies alone. Please do not interfere with Nature. The mother-animal knows what to do. All babies, humans or animals (actually, humans, I’m not so sure, because some humans kill their own babies, and some animals do, too) are usually better off with their mothers.
