Sandra and mum, Olivia

Oliver brought Sandra to our panel vet this afternoon for a second opinion on the wound.  I met them near my college and off we went to the vet’s.

Little Sandra in the car.  She wormed herself out of the e-collar in an instant!

So, so cute!

The vet found the problem with Sandra’s wound.  There were knots in the internal sutures and the tip of the sutures were sticking out.  These tips served as “wicks” that drew impurities into the raw wound, causing the infection.  It’s called the “wick effect”.  So, the vet removed the sutures while I held little Sandra.  Sandra was actually very cooperative.  She did not struggle, and only whined a little.  Local breeds are tough cookies!

There you go, you should be ok now!

Then, the mum-dog arrived, brought by Ah Fatt and his family.  According to Oliver, Ah Fatt has been helping him with transport up and down all week, with this family of dogs.  Ah Fatt himself has 7 rescued dogs, one of whom is blind.  He has been extremely helpful and very caring towards the dogs.

The vet examined her and found she still has remnants of milk in her glands.  So we have decided to wait for another week before getting her spayed.  One week ought to be enough for the milk to dry up since she won’t be letting her puppies suckle anymore.

The clinic wanted a name for mum-dog, so I named her “Olivia”, after Oliver.  Olivia will be boarding for a week while waiting to be spayed.
Ah Fatt was quite concerned that the only cage available was not very spacious, so he will try his utmost to look for a fosterer for Olivia.
We sponsored Sandra’s treatment for today, and we will be sponsoring Olivia’s boarding for a week, and subsequent spaying.
