Let’s help Meiji

We paid a visit to Meiji’s sanctuary in December 2009,and met up with this remarkable 8-preceptor (someone who practises frugality in life, by observing the 8 precepts) who has a deep passion for animals.
At that time, Meiji was looking after 80 dogs in her sanctuary, rescued through the last 10 years where she managed all alone in this sanctuary in Raub up on a hill.  Her 80 dogs have all been spayed and neutered – 100%.  She drives them down to Setapak, 4 at a time, to get them spayed/neutered, and sick animals would be brought to UPM for treatment.
Meiji taps rubber on a daily basis to earn money to support these dogs.  Her dogs are fed rice broth with sardines and kibbles.  Once in a while, she gets some donations from well-wishers.  Her sisters help her out too.
We bought her this industrial rice-cooker during our trip in December, and since then, the dogs now have rice.  She cooks 20kg of rice every day for all her dogs.
Meiji works untiringly, day and night, to give these dogs a good enough life in her sanctuary.  And believe me, it is MORE than “good enough”.  Her dogs are also 100% vaccinated.
There is no electricity up in her sanctuary and the water comes fresh from the mountain.
I have pledged that we will sponsor the spay-neuter of all her newly-rescued animals for as long as we can.  From December until now, the number of dogs in her sanctuary has grown from 80 to more than 100.  I have also pledged to sponsor the vaccines that she needs, as long as we still have funds to do so.
Yesterday, we did spay-neuter for 4 of her new dogs, along with 12 of Kwai Chee’s.  And we paid for the neutering of 2 cats which she had just got done at Setapak.
If you’d like to help this feisty lady with a heart of gold, you may donate funds to her directly by visiting her sanctuary in Raub (which will be a memorable ride of your life, because you can only go up in her jeep) or you may contact me.  She welcomes adoptions from her sanctuary too, but only to genuine dog-lovers.
Meiji’s dogs are all healthy and happy.  If I were a dog, I’d choose to live in her sanctuary too!
Let’s work together and help her.
