S.O.S for Miko

Miko was rescued when he was just one month old, in a dying condition, but nursed back to life by his rescuer and current feeder.  A few days ago, Miko disappeared from his colony and his rescuer/feeder just discovered that he was hiding in a drain and had been bitten by stray dogs.  Miko’s injuries has already turned gangrenous now, and is in a very critical condition.

Miko’s rescuer called me this morning, appealing for financial help for Miko’s treatment.  I assured her we will do our very best to help her out with our available funds.

Here is the latest updates from Miko’s rescuer:

Miko is found to be in critical condition. His survival rate is 50/50 right now because the gangrene is very, very bad and thas urned septic (if only we had found him 2 days earlier!).

Of greatest concern right this moment is the degree of the sepsis in his body to effect death. The gangrene and maggots infested wound requires cleaning and draining once every few hours.

Miko looked jaundiced so a blood test for FIP was conducted and thankfully the test has emerged negative. He has been put on the drip.

Later, if he survives (please don’t die, dear Miko … we have gone to far for you to die on me like that, dear! please hang on tightly and fight hard to live ….), and when he is much better, the clinic will do an X-Ray to determine the extent of damage to his hind and legs as the dog bite wounds are very deep. He is now unable to move.

The clinic gave an estimate of RM700 for his expenses (treatment including medications, blood test, X-Ray and boarding charges for the whole hospital stay up to the point of Miko’s discharge some time next week, after which (should he survive) he can be discharged and taken home to recuperate further.

Miko, during better times.
Miko’s injuries now.
Hang in there, little Miko.

We are very sad to inform you that little Miko passed away this morning.  We wish Miko a safe and happy passage to his next existence.
