Jackie goes to Raub

Today is Jackie’s rehoming to Meiji’s sanctuary in Raub.  Meiji agreed to take Jackie and she will be under her sister’s care.  I appealed for Jackie because of her blindness.

Jackie is one of our Klang rescued dogs.  She was rescued with a bloodied eye and in very poor condition.  We brought her back from LLLP for treatment.  Her bad eye was innucleated, and after that, she suffered depression for weeks.  Then, we were told even her supposedly good eye could be blind.

Jackie was spayed, vaccinated, treated, and subsequently fostered by Yi Lin and her family.  In the 2 weeks with Yi Lin, Jackie recovered quite remarkably.  Her cloudy eye cleared up, and now, she can actually see with that one eye, even if just a little bit.

She is very good with people, but we could not find her a home.  So, I talked to Meiji, and Meiji says Jackie can live with her sister on her sanctuary.

I went to collect Jackie at 3pm today, from Yi Lin’s house.  Yi Lin says her whole family loves Jackie, but they already have three dogs, Chief, Happy and Chelsea (adopted from LLLP when we brought the entire family back for treatment).

Jackie has put on weight since she was rescued.  She looks very healthy now.

We let Jackie have a romp in the garden that she loved so much.  She pees and poos in the garden.

I then put Jackie into the back seat of my car, and drove to PAWS to meet up with Meiji.  Jackie was extremely well-behaved.  I did not even need a cage.  She sat quietly while I talked to her and explain that she would be going home with Aunty Meiji, and there would be lots of doggy-friends.

After handing over Jackie’s medication to Meiji, I bade Jackie bye-bye, and wished her a good and happy life, surrounded by lots of love.  Even though I had not fostered Jackie, we have been through two months together now, and that’s many meaningful moments of bonding.  I remember getting so worried when she was depressed.  Then, we saw her improve after 2 weeks or so, and gradually, she became a cheerful and confident dog again.  We hoped we would be able to find her a loving home, but no one responded to our appeal, so she is now going to live with Meiji’s sister in Raub, which is still a very loving “home” – with 100 dogs and two wonderful and compassionate ladies.
Have a good life, Jackie.  I hope to see you again, when we next visit Meiji’s sanctuary up in Raub.
