Seenu is better now, with acupuncture

Seenu is one of the many cats rescued and being looked after by Devi, from Brickfields. Seenu had been suffering from gum disease for many years now. Devi has brought him to see vets, and Seenu had undergone many types of treatments, but to no avail.

In December 2009, we also took Seenu for an assessment by our panel vet and was told the same thing – there isn’t much that western medicine can be do for Seenu. At that time, Seenu was indeed suffering from intense pain in his mouth. And he could not even eat by himself.

So I suggested to Devi that we try acupuncture under Dr Susanna Brida. Devi was game to try.

Dr Susanna started treatment on 6th January and has since given Seenu a total of SIX acupuncture sessions.

Here’s an update from Dr Susanna:

After 2 months of acupuncture treatment on Seenu, the response is, though not overwhelmingly great, good, with a fair prognosis of further improvement.

He started to salivate less and is more lively. He also now likes to eat by himself.
However, I feel that any future acupuncture treatments should be conducted only when an acute flare up of pain/salivation occurs. For Seenu’s further improvement herbal medications were discussed with Devi.

Seenu’s acupuncture treatment was sponsored by us, and we are glad Seenu is much better now.

Devi will buy the herbal medications herself for the long-term maintenance of Seenu’s condition.

My own experience was when Dr Susanna cured Tiger’s limping and persistent wounds (due to being FIV-positive). Western vets also said Tiger would limp for life and his wounds would never heal. But he did, after two sessions of acupuncture, and a third session, just to be sure. Tiger is now a very much more confident cat, and his wounds have not resurfaced ever since.

Acupuncture is all about balancing the energy flow in the body. It is very different from just treating the symptoms, as in Western medicine. It is holistic and I’ll always be game to try it for my pets.
