I received a call late last night, from a cat feeder and rescuer. And this is truly a very sad case. This lady looks after 25 cats, and had accidentally mistaken the ivermectin (for another cat) for deworming medication for four little kittens.
So, the four little kittens were given ivermectin instead of the dewormer.
This morning, upon realising her mistake, she rushed them to the vet for emergency treatment. One died. The other three are currently on drips and fighting for their lives.
The bill is going to cost her a bomb, and she has asked for financial help. I said we would help her with our usual subsidy for medical treatments.
I believe it was truly an accident, something that could have happened to anyone, especially when you have so many cats/kittens to look after. She was feeling very, very remorseful for her mistake, and I truly empathise with her.
