Maggie the Puppy

This is a case of a rescued puppy named Maggie whom Agnes and her friends are helping.  Here are the details from Agnes:

Thank you very much for offering to help out with the medical for this puppy. We also need to find a fosterer/adopter after discharge from the clinic.

A female puppy was found last Friday by two ladies, and brought to an orphanage for the children to look after.  The children called her Maggie and she appeared to be fine.  However, on Tuesday evening, they found Maggie lying on a wet towel and she was not well. They rushed her to the nearest vet at 6.00pm+. A blood test was done and Maggie was found to have tick fever as well as pneumonia. Her blood count was very low as the virus was attacking her red blood cells. So a blood transfusion was carried out the next day, Wednesday. Further tests need to be done to see if her organs are affected.

Maggie also had diarrhoea and worms. So she was dewormed and put on a drip for dehydration. A distemper test was done and she was found to be negative. She is currently on antibiotics for 20 days. She is also being treated for some skin problem, bald patches which could be fungus or tick bites. Some areas of the skin are shiny which could be due to burns.

Lydia and I visited Maggie on Thursday she could stand up and wagged her tail all the time. She’s very sweet and enjoys being petted but has sad eyes. We were told by the vet that if her condition is stable on Friday (today), she can be discharged. Lydia has so kindly offered to take care of her at home for a week to give us time to look for a fosterer/adopter. The treatment bill is more than RM700.00 up to Thursday, 12/8.  Our Metta Karuna Rescue Team will also chip in to help with the bill.

We’ll be helping out with the medical bill for Maggie, and would like to appeal for a fosterer/adopter for her as well.
