More Info: INVITATION TO MALAYSIA’S FIRST-EVER FORUM ON ZOO ANIMAL WELFARE

Zoo animal welfare is undoubtedly attracting increasing interest in Malaysia, with growing public concern about cruelty towards animals held in zoos generating ever-increasing media attention.

In response to growing awareness of a need to address poor zoo animal welfare in Malaysia, June 2010 saw the formation of myZOO, a Malaysian NGO coalition dedicated to tackling… zoo animal welfare issues.

On the 23rd September 2010, myZOO will be hosting Malaysia’s first-ever public forum on zoo animal welfare issues, to engage members of the public in addressing zoo animal welfare issues and empowering them to make a difference. The forum will also be open to NGO representatives, PERHILITAN, MPs, veterinarians, and members of the zoo community.

This is your chance to share your views about zoo animal welfare in Malaysia, raise any concerns you have regarding animals in zoos or other captive facilities in Malaysia and pose your questions to experts in the field of zoo animal welfare. You will also find out how you can play an active role in working towards a future where all zoo animals experience optimal welfare in Malaysia.

Topics covered in the forum will include areas of concern in Malaysia in terms of zoo animal welfare, the use of wild animals in photography sessions and circus-style shows and how everyone can play a part in addressing zoo animal welfare issues.

We look forward to welcoming you at the forum, and working together to improve the lives of those zoo animals in Malaysia who so desperately need our help.

Yours sincerely,

myZOO
