Cindy and Stuart are the two kittens we were frantically trying to find an adopter for two days ago because the rescuer said he had no choice but to send them to the shelter. Kittens this young would probably be put down.
Thank goodness Devi came to the rescue and offered, not just to foster, but to adopt and give them a permanent home.
Here’s an update from Devi:
Took Cindy & Stuart (sorry, my son renamed them) both to clinic today. The vet said they are too young to be dewormed. Told me to wait for 2 more weeks.
I think the diarrhoea is due to the milk. Last night, I gave them Neu Zea, powder milk which I bought from Kooi Lim & the diarrhoea is not as bad as yesterday. They are smart kittens you know. They went to one corner of the cage to pee & poo today. Hopefully, their diarrhoea stops soon.
Stuart loves to do horse riding on the green toy bunny while Cindy loves to look into my eyes.I greatly hope all strays, babies as well as adults go for adoption soon by various angels.
I’ll update from time to time.
Devi Narayanan
I remember how relieved I was when Devi texted me that Saturday, saying she would like to adopt the kittens. Punitha, Nandhini and I had, by then, almost exhausted all our avenues and resources to find them a fosterer, what more an adopter.
And I remember what Devi wrote to me in here sms: Thank you for giving me an opportunity to look after these kittens.
That is a beautiful way of looking at adopting or fostering, or for that matter, at serving others. It’s not a “chore”, it’s not a “task”, it’s not about hey-i-do-you-a-favour-so-you-must-pay-me-back, it’s not about collecting “brownie points”, but an opportunity.
It reminds me of what Master Cheng Yen (the founder of Tzu Chi foundation whose mission is to serve) says about helping others, even the most down-trodden. She said to look upon it as an opportunity to serve, and therefore, to be very grateful to those (including the very ones we are serving) who has given us the opportunity to perform an act of generosity and kindness, an opportunity to do some good for our spiritual wellbeing.
Thank you for your act of generosity, Devi!
You have a beautiful heart.
P.S. I received a request from someone to adopt “Creamie” (now named Stuart). I guess bluepoints are still in season!
