Subsidy for spaying of two female cats, Cookie and Lizzie (Veronica Ong May Yoong’s)

We have subsidised RM200 for the spaying of two female cats, Cookie and Lizzie, rescued by Veronica Ong May Yoong.

Hi Dr Chan,

I came to know of your organisation through an article in The Star recently.  I admire you for your patience, dedication and love for animals.

I read about the practice of CNRM and would like to start one ie. one back alley CNRM, instead of One-Street CNRM.

My mother in-law and I have been feeding a mother cat, her young kitten (I think its a male about 7-8 months) and a beige coloured female cat (don’t know exactly her age) for almost a year now.  The mother cat has since given birth to 4 more little kittens recently and both are afraid of people.  I am now worried that the beige coloured cat too will also get pregnant and want to get her spayed so that she will not add more kittens to the colony.  She is very affectionate and friendly towards anyone so I think we are able to catch her easily as compared to the mother cat and her kittens.

I wish to help these stray cats to have a better life and hope to do something for them.  Attached are three picture of the beige coloured cat for your attention.

For your information, I am staying in Bandar Kinrara Puchong.  Could you advise me how to go about applying for the subsidy to get her a medical check up and neutering.

Just a note to update you.

We have managed to capture 2 cats and brought them to a vet in Puncak Jalil last Sunday for spaying.

Upon checking, he informed that the beige coloured cat who have contracted disease as she is very thin and underweight for her age (over a year old) and suspects her to have jaundice while the other (about 6-7 months old) looks normal with a superficial injury.  He advised that he will be keeping them for few days for observation before he conduct the spaying procedure.

I find the vet’s services & fees at his clinic to be very reasonable and when I mentioned that we would like to help the animal and of your organisation, he was very accomodating and willing to assist in any way he can.

I hope and pray that beige coloured cat is not sick and that he is able to carry out the spaying on her.  Will update you on her condition in the next email.

Hi Dr Chan,

We brought back the cats yesterday afternoon from the vet, they were at the clinic for a week and have released both of them back to the alley, we decided to name them, Cookie and Lizzie.

We have been feeding Cookie for quite awhile but she has not been putting on any weight while Lizzie just recently joined in the colony about two weeks ago with a wound on her thigh.  She has white fur on her body with light blue eyes and little patches of colour on her left eye, ears and tail.

Both are friendly while Cookie is the extremely affectionate one, she likes to rub herself on anyone that comes in contact with her. She will even bite on to our t-shirt and start suckling like a kitten.

Lizzie is responding well while Cookie looks a little weak as compared to Lizzie. We are worried about Cookie’s current state of health, will try to monitor her and see how things go for her but we pray that she will overcome this.  Maybe after this we then bring both cats for a medical check.

The vet did not ear notched them as I have forgotten to inform him and he recommended that we put collars on both of them.

One mission accomplished and our next one is to try to capture the mother cat and her kittens, this will be a tough one as they are not friendly at all towards human.
