Please be alert and be aware of this (dogs being poisoned by treats)

Nowadays, we often hear of kidney failure in pets, and some of these pets have been fed with the “best” foods available on the market. However, it is usually commercial foods, or processed foods.

Please let’s read the labels carefully, or do sufficient research on the companies that produce these foods.

Or, better still, homecook for your pets. Our pets are our responsibility and in many ways, “at our mercy” because they trust us and rely totally on us to take care of them.

We owe it to them to give them our very best.

Let’s keep ourselves well-informed. Food does make a difference.

Remember Indy was so incredibly sick in December and almost died? He had been on prescription diet for a few months before that. Dr Susanna really knocked some sense into me (and I thank her profusely for it and I’m sure Indy thanks her too) and told me pointblank it was because of the food I had been feeding him. I changed his food that day itself and everyone else also ate either wetfood or homecooked. Indy recovered…in time. Not instantly, but he recovered.

Bobby too was doing so badly in the previous months. He too was switched to homecooked food and he is so much better now.

In Chinese nutrition principles, health is dependent on the lifeforce (called the “qi”) and the qi is dependent on the food we eat. That’s about it.

So, food does matter. If we have to buy commercial foods (not all commercial foods are bad), let’s learn to read the labels and be very choosy about what we feed our pets. We owe it to them. Ignorance can be corrected. We just need to be motivated to learn and to make the effort to change if we know there is a better way.

And if, after doing our very best, our pets still succumb to some disease and pass on, at least we know we have done our very best and some things cannot be changed or controlled. But at least we have done our very best and given them the best. It would be quite terrible if we knew there was a better way, but we were not willing to change or to try harder. That would be quite hard to live with, wouldn’t it?
