Help needed for dog in Tg Tokong, Penang (Mah Chun Huey’s)

Please help if you can. This is a request from Huey:

Hi Dr Chan.

I was wondering if you could help me blog about this. As mentioned before, there are rarely stray dogs along my street. But recently I notice a female stray hanging out along the next street (which is one of the main streets in my housing area). Since I now work 7 days a week, 13-14 hours a day (yes, crazy schedule), I’ve only seen her 2-3 times, all at night when I was on my way back. I’ve only seen her resting and sleeping under the trees along the street.

Today, however, I went back in the evening hours and saw her walking along, and I think she’s pregnant (I might be wrong since all my dogs are spayed and I don’t have any experience identifying pregnant dogs). She was walking slowly to the next street, looking for something to eat/drink I think. I went back and took some of my dogs’ home cooked dinner (hopefully they won’t mind!) and offered her. She ate all up. She doesn’t seem to be starving so I’m not quite sure if someone is feeding her as well. She’s timid, and I think quite young, probably 1-2 years old. After feeding her I went getting a pack of kibbles to keep in the car just in case I see her again. My dogs are all on home-cook diet so I don’t have any dry food readily available at home.

While ideally it would be nice if I can take her in, unfortunately not only due to family constraint, my working schedule now doesn’t quite allow me to spend time with my dogs either (I’m thankful to have an Indonesian helper at home who would help me to feed my dogs but she’s leaving soon so I’m going to have to work things out soon). I’m hoping someone could give her a shelter, at least until she delivers her babies, and then we can find adopters for her and her babies. I know this is a long shot especially in Penang, but miracles do happen, if we don’t try, we don’t know, right?

The dog is at Tg Tokong area. If anyone is interested, they can reach me atchunhuey01@gmail.com. The mobile phone reception at my workplace is horrible, and I check my email regularly.

Thanks! 🙂
