We will be providing petfood subsidy to Farose Adam, a security guard from Bukit Mertajam. Farose looks after the dogs and cats in the vicinity of his workplace. After receiving the email below from his niece, Basirah Mohd Ibrahim (a former applicant to our fund), we spoke with Farose Adam on the phone to understand his needs and the situation he is facing. We also found out that all of his current animals are not neutered and have advised him that we cannot provide food unless he starts to neuter his animals, as many as he can. He is welcome to apply to our Medical Fund for the neutering claims. Another one of our requirements is that the sick animals must be given treatment, and Farose is also welcome to apply for our funds for this purpose.
Yesterday, Basirah helped Farose ferry 6 of his cats for neutering at the government vet in Kulim. Two were suspected to be pregnant so these were not spayed. Only the four male cats were neutered. Upon receiving his application for neutering, we will provide our food subsidy when he applies for it.

Subject: Request for food subsidy
To: chankahyein@gmail.comDear Dr Chan
Hope you are doing well
I am Basirah Mohd Ibrahim and would like to request for yr food subsidy for my uncle(Farose Adam) who is taking care of strays and community cats and dogs at his place in Bukit Mertajam.Am putting in this request on his behalf as he is not well versed with computers etc. He is working as a security and income hardly covers his expenses. But almost always, the animals come first to him as he is too kind hearted to ignore any animals pleading for help.He currently has 12 dogs and 19 cats. He has been feeding cats and dogs for about 3 years now out of his own pocket money but now alot of strays seem to be wondering to his area and some people even dump the dogs at his place. Most of the cats that he has were rescued from the streets, markets, drains, foreign workers and those that are loitering around his home. I feel that these strays and community animals would be in better shape with the food subsidy.
Have attached some pics for yr consideration.Should you need more clarification or pics, will gladly provide.
*In pic H : The 2 dogs in this picture are unwell and was dumped at his place recently. 🙁

To: Chan Kah Yein <chankahyein@gmail.com>Dear Dr ChanHave attached the form
He currently feeds them with food purchased from the market or restaurants ie chicken feet /neck/liver etc. It alone cost him about rm 10-12 per day depending on the worker who provides the chicken items. This will be served with rice for the animals. (This covers abt 1 complete meal )Am really unable to get the receipts from these workers as they feel they are doing a favor and are giving it for a cheaper price compared to the price their bosses will charge.
The email and phone number in the form is mine. Have included my uncle’s phone number but may be difficult to reach him due to his work nature.

To: Chan Kah Yein <chankahyein@gmail.com>Dear Dr ChanChecked wt my uncle, he would be available tomorrow ,10am onwards.
Khairoon Bee is my mum.I gave my account number as I thot it would be easier for me to pay and claim from you as he wouldnt have access to emails and online bankings..Anyway, he has his account number. Will need to reconfirm and will use his number in the subsidy requests.Regarding the 3 animals to be neutered, my mum will talk to the vet tomorrow and tentatively arrange for the neutering on 2nd June 2013. The vet was at a seminar today.
Last treatment was given by the vet for deworm, antibiotic treatment and medicines last week. My uncle makes the payment in batches to the vet.
Was planning to get the kibbles and wet food like the ones you sponsored for Pak Din and Maslinda. Not too familiar with dog food but for cats was thinking blackwood, quit or prodiet.
Thanks and regards
