A suggestion to bigtime animal rescuers

It’s the end of the year and in the process of auditing our accounts, we notice that some rescuers have claimed a very substantial amount of subsidy payments from our funds over a certain period of time. We hope these rescuers know that AnimalCare isn’t going to last forever (!) and we hope they won’t depend on us fully to support their work for an indefinite period of time.

To those who intend to do longterm rescue work which requires a large amount of funds, instead of depending on charitable organisations to fund your work on the long term, why don’t you consider registering a society so that you can fundraise yourself for your work?  It would give you better control in managing your rescue activities. You will be independent and need not depend on the help of charitable organisations anymore. After all, charitable organisations also depend on and have to work hard to raise funds and may not be able to sponsor your work for a long duration, especially when your needs are substantial.

As for our funds, we started off with the intention of helping smalltime needy caregivers who do not have the resources nor capability to raise their own funds and those who are not supported by any other sources. Our intention has not changed. We dearly hope bigtime rescuers will consider setting up their own societies so that we can continue channeling our funds to help the smalltimers and newcomers to the field of rescue work.
