  • Paws for Life: Of shelter dogs and prisoners

Take a look: http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Paws-For-Life—Outreach-to-Inmates-in-LA-County-Prison.html?soid=1101609207998&aid=wUWYBH-_2-o More than 100,000 prisoners are currently housed in California’s 38 correctional facilities; many hundreds of thousands of dogs are euthanized each year in pounds across the state. Where the paths of incarcerated humans and shelter dogs merge, there exists hope. Earlier this year, officials from the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) approached Karma Rescue with a unique opportunity:…

  • Feedback on the pet spray

Thanks again, everyone, for asking about my Zurik-bite. It seems to be a lot better today. For the past two days, it would get inflamed, even hot and I did wonder if it was infected, but today, I’m quite confident that it’s not. I sprayed the pet spray on it frequently, from the moment I…

  • Zurik alert, Zurik alert!

Mr Zurik is here!! What are you doing, Mr Zurik? Giving instructions to my shrews… He’s in the house now! Zurik alert, everyone!! Vincent came in, to take care of things, just in case. A Jedi warrior never abandons his friends. Even Heidi woke up. Daffodil is not afraid. Chill, everyone, chill…I’m just a harmless…

  • Cow-Tiger fight

I don’t know if it was fueled by the presence of a new cat (the white kitty), but Cow terrorised Tiger today, resulting in specks of blood on the ground and very tiny specks of blood around Cow’s shoulder. By the time I got out to the Clubhouse, I saw Cow facing Tiger at close…

  • Oh, hello there, are you new around here?

This afternoon, I spotted a new cat on the ledge… Hello there… And peek-a-boo to you too! He looked hungry because he was eyeing the kibble jar, so I placed some kibbles onto a bowl and left it on the patio floor. Cow and Indy had already spotted him. Daffodil went for the kibbles. Oh…

  • A peaceful porch

I came home this afternoon to a peaceful porch…(because Mr Zurik wasn’t around!). Daffodil on the lookout point while Timmy sleeps at the Canopy Cafe. Ginger is probably in his rooftop den. Rosie is fast asleep in her favourite place at the flower pot. Heidi is safe under the sofa! Vincent was under another chair.…

  • Morning wake-up call

This morning, at 5am, Rosie came upstairs to wake us up. Gosh, it was only 5am….why, Rosie? She kept mewing non-stop, jumped onto the bed and nudged us up. We finally figured out what she wanted – she wanted food before her “line-dancing class” at the pavilion. I guess she has been getting food elsewhere…

  • How to safely break up a dog fight

http://dogingtonpost.com/how-to-safely-break-up-a-dog-fight/#.U5fHqPmSxqV It’s called the wheelbarrow method – grabbing the hind legs (if you are with a friend). Or, if you are alone, then the recommended approach is the belly-leash, but only after all else fails (making loud noises, etc.). Our disclaimer holds. Please do not risk getting yourself injured.

Mother and babies are all doing well. Wow! SIX kittens from little Dolly! I’m so thankful that she is safe in the “maternity chalet” where she will be well looked after and…

  • Spaying subsidy for 1 female cat (Yee Fook Keong’s)

We have another new applicant, which is a good thing! Mr Yee brought two cats to the vet, but the vet strongly suspects one of them have already been spayed (there was a faint scar on the abdomen, but the ear is not notched), hence only the calico was spayed. The ear has been tipped…

  • Are there invisible monsters in your pets’ bowls?

This article may be of interest to you: http://www.care2.com/causes/invisible-monsters-in-your-pets-bowls.html I used to use Tupperwares (which are BPA-free) but now I use stainless steel bowls, for both water and food.
