For the last few months, I have been doing succession planning for AnimalCare and am happy to announce that we DO have a succession plan in place now and AnimalCare will go on after I’m gone!
We have assembled the AnimalCare TagTeam! This team consists of a few younger volunteers who have worked closely with me previously and they have graciously agreed to run point in doing what I do now when I am incapacitated or no longer around. When that happens, we don’t know yet, but it is always good to put our house in order, isn’t it? Life is uncertain, death is certain. Permanent disability and dementia may happen.
It is a relief for me to know that the work we do will go on after I am gone. I get to leave a legacy for the street animals and I am truly thankful.
Street animals will ALWAYS need help.
It took the Netherlands 200 years to achieve stray-free status for dogs and that was WITH governmental support and the citizens’ support. Even with that, it took 200 years to achieve that status. As for cats, well, cats will be cats. They have been around humans for goodness knows how long (12,000 years or more?) and they will continue being so. In the Netherlands, street cats are neutered, vaccinated (with support from the government again) and returned to colony. It is CNRM (or TNRM, if you like) being practised. In countries like the Netherlands and Turkey, it is the culture of the people to take care of and be kind to street animals.
We have a LONG way to go. Let’s not talk about politicians and their empty promises (that’s a total waste of time). Let’s just talk about what we, the ordinary citizens, can do. There’s a lot we can do.
Every street animal neutered is thousands of lives saved.
Every street animal fed and cared for is a happy animal.
So, to all supporters and donors of AnimalCare, please continue giving your support to the new AnimalCare TagTeam after I am gone. But as long as I’m still alive, you will still hear from me!
Each member of the TagTeam will be contributing articles to this blog so that in time to come, you will know who they are and get to know them well!
Thank you very much for your kind and generous support, now and always!
