In case you missed the news, we have finally managed to assemble a dedicated AnimalCare Tag Team to take over the running of AnimalCare after I’m gone. This is a huge relief for me because it means that AnimalCare now has a succession plan and we can go on helping animals for a longer time!
It had been very difficult looking for successors and I had been trying for years, actually. There were some who showed promise but the interest fizzled out after some time. There were also some who just reluctantly said, “Oh well, just to help you out…ok.” But no, our Tag Team does not consist of people who said this. On the contrary, it is people (more accurately, friends and former volunteers) whose instant response was “I will be honoured.” No reluctance, no hesitance. And they are handpicked because we all share the same values of integrity, responsibility, accountability and compassion to animals. And of course, it made sense to pick people who are younger than me.
I want to thank the members of the Tag Team for agreeing to keep AnimalCare running and I can confidently pass the baton to them when the time comes. Thank you very much for allowing me to leave a legacy – it really means so much to me. And to all supporters and donors, I hope you will continue giving the Tag Team the same support (or more!) when they take over. That will mean very much to me too!
We are also doing a special fundraising for the Balakong Dogs under the CNRM-work of Ms Tong Yut Fun and Mr Wong Woi Kan. There are still many dogs to be neutered as it is a large colony. Their regular vet clinic has requested that they take a break in December because the clinic staff are going on annual leave and there is insufficient humanpower at the clinic to take care of the dogs in their special arrangement at the clinic. But Ms Tong and Mr Wong will still be catching the dogs and sending them to different vets as we have pledged to do our best to help them out with the cost. There is always an urgency to get street animals neutered because the unneutered ones will keep breeding.
The price of pet food has gone up this year due to various economic factors, so we are also fundraising to help out with pet food for Imm’s Shelter and Survivor Shelter.
If you would like to donate to support our work, we are deeply grateful.
