This is a Sponsored Animals in selected shelters initiative.
Ms Judy of Imm’s Shelter contacted me yesterday with this request below:
May I ask if AnimalCare would help to sponsor the treatment of two other strays outside Imm’s shelter with TVT. Imm managed to catch Fluff but she escaped before the pet taxi came to fetch her to the vet. I didn’t know there was another one till I saw her last Sunday. She’s a Tara lookalike (I’ve named her Dora) and when I saw the big red tumours on her behind, I was dismayed. Thot Tara had a recurrence so soon after she’s recovered. When I told Imm, she said she’s a Tara lookalike. Both dogs difficult to catch. It was the same with Tara. The pet taxi guy had to get a shooter to dart her with tranquilizer. Tara’s doing well now. When she sees me she walks over to greet me.
Tara’s final bill was RM1,780. Thankfully, a couple of friends fully sponsored the cost.
Breakdown of costs for Tara:
1) Vincristine jabs 3@RM150 each = RM450
2) Boarding 15/4 – 26/5 41days@RM20 per day = RM820
3) Medication RM55
4) Spay 15/5 RM220
Total vet charges RM1,545
5) Tranquilizer shooter + pet taxi shelter->vet ->shelter RM 235
Total cost RM1,780 for Tara.
We are asking for Fluff and Dora now.
Below, photo and video of Tara, who has undergone TVT treatment and is doing very well now. She is also very friendly to Judy.

We have agreed to help Dora and Fluff with their medical treatment and boarding up to a maximum of RM1,500 each. We cannot cover for the darter and the pet taxi charges, only the medical treatment and boarding. Ms Judy explained that they need the boarding as it would be difficult to cart them to and from the vet’s for the weekly Vincristine (chemotherapy) jabs. They are still feral in nature and defensive, and understandably so. Also, there is no place to house them at the shelter for recuperation, so boarding them would be a better option.
We are extending this help to Imm’s Shelter under our Sponsored Shelter initiative. Tara, Dora and Fluff are/will be CNRM dogs under the care of Imm’s Shelter. The shelter is full and they cannot take in anymore animals for the time being.
For the information of new readers, we started this Sponsored Shelter initiative so that whenever we have excess funds, we could channel it to 1-2 small shelters to aid in the medical needs of their animals. Since Ms Ong’s Survivor Shelter is doing very well now and she has repeatedly declined our offer of aid, we are now able to extend some help to Imm’s Shelter in Ipoh. The timing is just right!
We have had a long association and friendship with Imm’s Shelter. We first started helping them get back on their feet in March 2011: VERY URGENT – help needed for 59 cats and dogs « AnimalCare (animalcare.my). Then, we provided food aid from February 2018 to January 2023. In the initial years after they got back on their feet, we also helped with some medical aid.
Imm’s Shelter was also the only shelter that responded to our Double Charity Donation project way back by ordering their pet food through us in efforts to help us raise funds. Their donors have also ordered pet food from us as well. For this, we are very grateful.
Times are bad now, economically. According to Ms Judy, donations have reduced for Imm’s Shelter. We are glad to be of some assistance within our means during this time.
Now, first things first, let’s hope they can catch Dora and Fluff! The bleeding from the TVT is quite bad.
