This news came out last week and yes, I saw it then: https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2024/02/23/senior-citizen-in-scuffle-during-stray-dog-round-up-faces-trial/
So it isn’t “new” news anymore but it would do well for us to reflect upon the sad situation in our country for street animals protectors and caregivers.
As you might remember, both sides had shaken hands and agreed not to sue each other. That happened in June 2023: https://www.thestar.com.my/metro/metro-news/2023/06/23/let039s-shake-on-it-mbpj-and-senior-citizen-settle-dog-catching-issue
And according to this latest news now:
A senior citizen who claims he was “roughed up” by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) officers in a scuffle during a round-up of stray dogs will face trial for allegedly obstructing them in the discharge of their duties.
Deputy public prosecutor Asmaa Zamri informed the magistrates’ court here today the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) had rejected fresh representations made on behalf of Patrick Khoo, 70, for the case to be withdrawn.
On Nov 17 last year, the AGC rejected Khoo’s initial representations despite the complainant having withdrawn his report.
Khoo is accused of obstructing Azizul Azzim Norehan, an MBPJ officer, from performing his duties during a round-up of stray dogs.
Do you also remember Mr Koh Tat Meng’s case in 2019 up to 2022? It is quite similar.
Allow me to refresh your memory, please.

If you could just google the keywords, you will find quite a number of news articles on Mr Koh Tat Meng’s case and notice the similarity with Mr Patrick Khoo’s.
All we want to say here is, forget about expecting fairness for animals and their caregivers.
Protect yourself and your animals at all costs. Do not expect justice because there is no justice in this world.
Just for the sake of illustration, consider this: X murders Y. X is arrested, goes to a trial and is sentenced to pay for his crime. Does that count as “justice” for Y and his family? Y is still dead and nothing is going to bring him back. His family is still grieving. Where is the justice in this? There is no justice. There is just punishment for X for his wrongdoing. That’s not justice for Y or his family.
I am reminded of the brutal massacre of innocent dogs (and cats) in Penang in Sept-Oct 2015. There will be no justice for the lives lost there no matter what happens now or later.
So, forget karma, forget justice, forget a fair Universe and drop all expectations because you are only going to be disappointed. Just protect yourself and your animals at all costs. They only live once. You only live once.
