The MBSA operation has been shelved

Here are some news after yesterday’s meeting between MBSA and certain organisations.

From the NST: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2024/04/1033636/mbsa-heeds-tengku-permaisuri-selangors-advice-improving-stray-dog

From FMT: https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2024/04/02/shah-alam-city-council-to-shelve-culling-of-stray-dogs-says-activist/

The only change we have noted is that the Task Force Operation has been shelved for now. But there are no immediate changes to anything else. Caught dogs will still be sent to PAWS (the pound) for “further action”. So it appears to be still catch-and-kill for now.

NST reports that MBSA says it will heed Tengku Permaisuri Selangor’s advice to improve stray management methods.

We will have to wait to see what improved methods it might employ.

For the time being, it looks like it’s all status quo, so if you are a caregiver in the MBSA area, please take all necessary measures to safeguard and protect your street animals from complaints by unfriendly quarters. The same applies to everyone else as the council by-laws in our country allow them to catch-and-kill.
