Medical aid for 1 cat in Cheras (Lee Soo Farng’s) – Grey (3rd aid – 1st physiotherapy session)

We have provided a full sponsorship of RM700 for 5 sessions of physiotherapy for Grey.

These funds come from a special fundraising for Grey’s treatment.

Donors: Donors from Pastorale Charity Concert 2023, an anonymous donor via TnG, Gerald & Misty, Jasmine Ee, Joy Saga, NandaLeonie Hong Siew Lan, Ng Seng Yum, Sharonlin Ooi, Shue Sen, Tong Yut Fun.

Grey went for his first physiotherapy session today. The good news is that there is hope that Grey will be able to walk again because there is still reflexes in his nerves. However, the chances of him overcoming the incontinence is not as good. Soo Farng was taught how to express Grey’s urine. By doing so, the leaking problem can be reduced.

Grey was given exercise on the treadmill, laser treatment, vibration and EMS. The physiotherapist remarked that Grey is such a good kitten and “very steady” too!  Grey gave his full cooperation at the long session!

Here’s what happened at the physiotherapy centre, in Soo Farng’s own words:

Today’s Visit to Paws Rehab in USJ for Grey’s first physio session with Physiotherapist Sydney

We were there just slightly early from our Appointment time 10.30am. After filling in the required form Sydney attended to Grey immediately. From the start she said cats are generally harder to rehab compared to dogs. Due to Grey’s nerve injury, the physio may help him to walk but his incontinence is no guarantee and may persist. So Sydney showed us how to express urine by gently squeezing his bladder. There was a lot of urine! It looks easy but I bet I’d need lots of practice on that. Best is to express twice a day first thing in the morning and before sleep. She also mentioned acupuncture may help also. Grey already has a date with a vet for that.

For today, Sydney suggested we take a 5 sessions package. Today is Session One. For each session, 4 activities are carried out.
1) treadmill-5 sets of walking exercises with short intervals in between.
2) laser therapy- to regenerate cells
3) vibration therapy- to stimulate blood circulation
4) Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS)- to stimulate muscle and to see his reflexes.

Grey was very good and cooperative throughout the therapy sessions today. Sydney said he was a good boy. At some moments Grey even closed his eyes and seemed to enjoy the treatments.

Sydney said normally there will be significant progress from the 3rd session onwards. It was very kind of her to waive the first consultation fees today. Thank you very much. We look forward to the next session.

Grey was tired after all the experience. He slept all the way home.

On the treadmill!

Soo Farng has successfully express out Grey’s faeces tonight! Well done!

We would like to thank all donors for stepping up so willingly to chip in for Grey’s treatment and of course, to Soo Farng for giving Grey a new lease on life.

I personally shudder to think what kind of life Grey would have had had Soo Farng not rescued him. He would have had to drag his two hind legs on the streets to live out his life amidst the dangers of the outdoor life.
