We also thank all the past donors who have helped Grey make it all the way to this point.

From Soo Farng:

Grey’s visit to Acupuncture on 30/4/24

After seeing the physiotherapist last week, we thought we would also try out Acupuncture to see if it can help Grey. As he is still young, maybe the chances of recovery can be higher. Still my bigger concern and challenge is his incontinence, less of his disability.

My first time seeing Dr Liong (with consent from the vet to be named) and pet Acupuncture. After briefing her on what happened to Grey, with the help of an assistant she readily inserted packets of disposable needles into Grey’s spine where the injury was. Also some on his head and legs. It was amazing to look at her work. She knew exactly what to do. Wires were clipped to the needles that were connected to a power board. This is Electro Acupuncture. It is supposed to enhance the effect of acupuncture by stimulating the meridian. Initially Grey needed to be held down when the needles were inserted. But he was calm and good later with his eyes closed. He seemed to enjoy the treatment. The process took about 25 minutes. At the end Dr Liong also gave him a Methycobal injection (Vitamin B12) at his spine area.

Dr Liong showed me how to express urine from Grey. I have tried numerous times with not much success. I hope I can do better.

I was advised it is best to bring Grey for weekly Acupuncture. I will give it a try. It was a pleasant experience today.

Don’t know if it’s physiological, after just one session, I already feel Grey can walk better! I see that he can stand quite steadily and walk more steps before collapsing! I so look forward to the day when he can walk and run and jump! Am I being ambitious? The physiotherapist said I’m challenging her!!!

I would like to thank all the kind people who have donated towards Grey’s medical treatment. I definitely can’t do this without your help. I am truly grateful.

And here are the photos, again, published with the vet’s consent:

On the way to his first acupuncture treatment.

Grey has moral support from an elderly grandma who popped in to visit him. It’s Soo Farng’s friend’s mother. Support is so crucial and appreciated by any animal rescuer.

Soo Farng and Grey.

Grey was so, so comfortable and totally cooperative throughout the procedure.

The vet gave free diapers, per kindness of other clients who had donated them.

The vet said Grey has strong legs!

Grey slept so well after the procedure.

Wide awake now, after a long, long nap.

Makan!!!

The Chinese medicine for the incontinence and the kidneys.

Acupuncture has been in practice for thousands of years. We are glad it is available to pets now (has been for more than a decade in Malaysia, actually).
