Visiting Miao at the clinic

I drove to the clinic to visit Miao today.

When I arrived, Miao was busy eating and then drinking. She drank a lot of water and I later found out it’s because water had to be withheld yesterday. But she is still on drips, so that’s okay.

She was a bit apprehensive at first because I’m a total stranger to her, but it only took 1-2 minutes for her to warm up to me. This is my first time meeting Miao.

When I put my hand in, she rubbed her head on it. Friendship established!

The dog was barking quite a bit, so I went out to sit to wait to speak with the vet. When I went back inside, Miao was so happy to see me, she walked to the door. Tortoiseshells are known to be very affectionate cats.

The vet was very busy with patients today, so after an hour or so, she had some time to speak with me. She showed me a photo taken during surgery (not allowed to be published) of a big gaping hole in Miao’s diaphragm. Miao had been living with this hole for more than a month. There was already much adhesion. The hole was so big that there was not enough for suture, so the vet took some muscle from the ribs to patch up the hole for suture.

The incision is very long. Miao would have to stay on for another 2-3 days. But her condition is already stable now.

She ate a bit more while I was there. Then, more massages for her.

I bade her bye-bye after the very pleasant visit.

Get well and strong soon, Miao!

We will be settling Miao’s hernia repair and hospitalisation to-date bill soon. If you would like to chip in, please bank in your donation to our bank account (if you have the number) or use the TnG QR code. Please write your name and “Miao” in the remark so that we know it’s for Miao. Thank you so much.
