Neutering aid for 1 cat in Kulai, Johor (Lee Kim Hai’s)

We have provided an aid of RM150 for the neutering of this cat, Kontot.

Mdm Lee is a new applicant. She and some of her friends have been rescuing and rehoming (to the best of their ability) the neighbourhood cats for many years now. They get the cats vaccinated, neutered and also medically treated if there are any issues.

Mdm Lee is not literate in English or Bahasa Malaysia, so we communicate in Cantonese via voicemail. The write-up below is written by her son. Mdm Lee’s friends are also not literate, so I have devised a pictorial version of our policy requirements for them.

Mdm Lee said this vet preferred to do a very small ear-tip. We have asked if she would request the vet to do a more visible ear-tip next time for other cats so that it is more easily identified.

According to Mdm Lee, it wasn’t easy to catch Kontot as she is very feral in nature. It took a lot of effort before she could catch her. Kontot only weighed 1.6kg before the surgery, but because it was so dificult to catch her, the vet said the spaying could be done. After a week, Mdm Lee took Kontot back for the removal of stitches, but the vet found that there was some swelling and Kontot had a fever, so the stitches could not be removed yet. Kontot was put on medication. However, Mdm Lee says Kontot is eating very well and her urination and defecation is normal. She is also active.

Initially, Mdm Lee put her in a single compartment cage, but Kontot was very stressed, unhappy and making a lot of noise, so she bought a bigger cage for her. Kontot is much happier in her new cage.

Mdm Lee has been feeding Kontot with AD and Cindy’s canned food. She eats very well. We hope Kontot recovers soon.
